Hip Hop Caucus: What a progressive political action committee looks like
I love the Hip Hop Caucus. It talks about all those things you wish a political party in the U.S. would bring up, and by political party, I mean the Democrats. It does so in an engaging, creative, attractive and empowering way (As opposed to cliché, stale, outdated, finger-wagging and ultimately off-putting) that you’d like to think wouldn’t be lost on the PR types of some forward thinking political party, and now by “political party” I mean the Green Party. Lastly, they include religious types without being moralizing, end-timey fundamentalist dickwads, and by dickwads I of course mean most Republicans. Not all of Republicans, of course, just the radicalized ones. There is room in our world moderates. I just haven’t found a moderate Republican. I’m really just looking for one who’s a realistic negotiating partner. Honest.

We believe that we can create the same scope of change today that the civil rights movement generated forty years ago. It all starts with organizing, which is why we created the Hip Hop Caucus. The Hip Hop Caucus is a space for our generation to come together as people of all races and creeds to discuss, debate, and most importantly act on a new vision of a society and a government that works for everyone
