World Pi Day is 03.14

Posted on Thursday, 11 March, 2010 By yours truly | TOOLS: Talk or Share

piSomething nerdy this way comes this weekend via the Cambridge Science Festival. Ok, sure, it’s Mothers day in UK and all that, but this Sunday is also World Pi Day. To help everyone truly appreciate the mathematical constant whose value is the ratio of any circle’s circumference to its diameter in Euclidean space (see this)] mathematician James Grime and magician Brian Brushwood are performing an online magic trick:  “Check pidaymagic.com for instructions, or follow the event using the hashtag #pidaymagic. And, no matter where you are in the world, we will read your mind.”

To be a part of history (or an over-hyped gimmick), click here on the 14th of March.

Internet Explorer as a Muse Driving Web Developers to Music

Posted on Monday, 4 January, 2010 By yours truly | TOOLS: Talk or Share

IE is Being Mean to Me is an original song written and performed by web programmer Scott Ward. I originally stumbled across it at the blogWhy IE Sucks. There sure seem to be a lot of websites expressing hatred of that browser these days.

I may have to modify my new years resolutions to include hacking together one of these things for my desk at work.

New Design for a New Year

Posted on Sunday, 6 December, 2009 By yours truly | TOOLS: Talk or Share

out of order

The new D3 is roughly based on four Wordpress themes

Time for a new look.Maybe it’s because I use reading glasses these days, but gone is the fine-print sized san serif typography that used to make up the bulk of the blog’s content. I took drew3ooo offline for most of December for a redesign. Consider this post to be the liner notes.

The vivacious layout, sparse use of color and elegant typography that make up this site’s sexy, sexy design are based on the stylish themes hanami and olulipo by A. Mignolo.
