Welcome to the latest experiment. For those of you just tuning in, I’m a website designer, freelance writer, media consultant, activist, etc., native to the Northwest US, currently residing in London.
Married to a fabulous wife, Maryam, and lucky dad to cute son, Jasper, I have in-laws, family and friends around the globe from Iran to Olympia, WA. Electronic media is the best way I have to keep up with most of them. And being that I’m also employed in the web business, a lot of my time gets spent online. Outside of that, i’ve started working toward a postgraduate degree in psychology.
Why drew3ooo?
In an attempt to make things more complicated, I spell it with a tripple zed, 000, in the domain name and with a lowercase ooo in most copy on the website entirely for personal aesthetic considerations. For short, I sometimes use the d3. But why all this? I sort of made it my online address a while ago. A place where people could find me, divorced from my actual name. I don’t remember exactly how long ago or at what website it was but I was trying to create a user account and every different permutation of my rather common name seemed to be taken. At the time I was listening to an Outkast CD, I guess because I borrowed from André Benjamin’s more famous Nom de guerre, andre3000, and the site accepted it. I’ve been grabbing my derivation of it as a user name since out of blind habit. Some people make the connection. Others have suggested it’s a possible homage to Mystery Science Theater 3000, a conclusion I’m more than fine with.
Drew3ooo is not my first website, may not be the last, but is at last an attempt to organize my online wanderings under a single roof and also do some website tinkering on myself before trying it out on actual paying clients. I’ll eventually be using much of this server space to test out different applications, code stuff and that sort of thing, and use the blog to go on about various sordid subjects that interest someone with as short an attention span as I have.
Politically, I’m left of left. Interests discussed here are politics, music, lit, web and web design and WordPress, which I use as a core application for a lot of projects, life stuff what with moving countries, getting hitched, and the like. The plan is to also allocate server space to innovative, interesting or at least mildly entertaining online projects either by me, or (considering the “innovative” standard) more likely by others.
