Behold Jasper.

Some say the moment parenthood sinks in as a reality comes when you’re actually holding the new baby in your hands. That wasn’t that moment for me. That was the moment I was formally introduced to my boy. The parenthood moment, that event where I realized this was really the real thing, that happened the rainy night before, at 2:45 a.m. in the only room with lights on at the King’s College Hospital maternity ward on the fourth floor, where my wife and I wiled a luxurious, brief expanse of time between contractions slow dancing as the radio station played Dione Warwick’s “Walk on By.”
