fascism_not_us.jpgFormer Democrat Brian Baird’s GOP arm band is in the mail. After a year away, I’ve returned to Olympia to discover that my supposed 3 rd Congressional District representative “Drank the Kool-Aid” and is now all surge-a-go-go after having some Green Zone embedded love-in with some Iraqi occupation tour guides.

The “brave” political leader who once decried the war as the mistake it was is now talking about success on the ground and how victory is right around the corner. One wonders which Iraq Mr. Baird was visiting. Maybe they let him off the plane in Seatac and he didn’t notice.

He apparently missed talking with General Sir Mike Jackson and a few of veterans of the Iraq occupation who also took tours that led to slightly different conclusions.

Still, even though he’s lost the smug, Democrat-hugging quasi-anti-war group MoveOn, he’s not alone. The White House front group (somewhat embarrassing when your government feels the need to create a front group) Freedom’s Watch has stepped forward as a foster parent for the little lost blond polito suddenly without a home.

Some see this as a horrible thing. I’d like to thank Baird. He’s launched a much needed salvo in a conflict long needed among those in the supposed party of the left. Democrats helped cause the war in Iraq, have helped continue the occupation of it and are helping ferment the civil war that looms there now. We need to know where they stand before heading to the polls. Brian’s been pretending long enough. I’m glad to see he’s stopped. Let’s hope the others follow suit so we can get back to at least a two-party system again. One is a little lonely.

So first off, Brian, thanks for the honesty. Secondly, sod off.
