heathrow1.jpgThe Camp for Climate Action is in full swing today over at Heathrow airport as the wind-power ‘n composting toilet set take on the evil BAA over it’s plans to create yet another runway for more pudgy, pink holiday makers to take three-day £250 romps to Marrakesh without thinking that it’s this cheap-o Greyhound Bus style flying that’s helping to put all their homes under water in North London. The flickr tag for “climate change” keeps a pretty good update of photos from the ground. Maryam and I were busy trying to hang a curtain rod in the bay window, so couldn’t attend, but I’ve been getting a kick out of the website and finding the interviews in the funny and macabre titled “Another end of the world is possible” campaign.

After we managed to more or less get a curtain up, we took a wander through the Nunhead Cemetary, which brought some sense of optimism regarding the environment. The cemetary isn’t like those in the states which are sort of maintained like park playgrounds. Seeing treetrunks growing out of the middle of gaves, ivy covering headstones and cement concrete crosses knocked over by slowly shifting earth is a good reminder that we’re just visiting, and sooner or later, we’re all fertilizer.

A few folks have taken decent snaps of the Nunhead Cemetary and have had them posted at the Friends of site here.
