Well it’s about damn time! Gush Shalom (via scoop) finally has the Ilian Pappe v Uri Avnery one-state-two-state-red-state-blue state (paging Dr. Seuss) debate in a single spot. Both progressive Israeli lefites have been duking it out in respective publications all eager to out-left one another, no doubt. It’s interesting to see who published whom in recent days but I’m actually just happier to see the main points laid out in one spot. — Read it at Scoop.
- Uri’s “Bed of Sodom” kick-off in Gush Shalom.
- Ilian’s response, “Looking for alternatives to failure” in Znet (and carboned like crazy everywhere else)
- Here’s another response to Avnery at Electronic Intifada
Personally, I can’t say I have a huge stake in the outcome of this one, but find both Uri and Ilian to be full of decent points. It would now be interesting to see what some Palestinians think of either opinion. This hasn’t yet been part of the discussion, and until such time, it remains, sadly, a big circle-jerk.
