From Nadia Saah of SAI Fairplay Media:
If you haven’t already heard, Paradise Now won the Golden Globe for best Foreign Film and has been nominated for an Academy Award in the same category. This is an incredibly opportune though limited time to demonstrate our support for Palestinian storytelling by GOING TO SEE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE…and forwarding this announcement to friends and family.
Prior to the award and nomination, Paradise Now was on its way out of theaters due to uninspiring box office results around the country. Theater owners in many cities pulled Paradise Now after only one week, not because of politics or quality but because the financial opportunity was not there. As I mentioned before, it is our responsibility to help create an economy in the US around the Palestinian story in all formats; film, stage, and literature, if we hope to change the conversation in our lifetime*.
THANKFULLY, due to the GG award and Oscar nomination, Warner Independent Pictures was able to secure a few more theaters this week. This means that the film still has a shot at receiving a major US release but only if its numbers grow exponentially over the next week or so. Paradise Now is the first best thing to come our way so let’s keep the stories coming to theater near you!
Please see the below list of theaters around the country. Notably, PN has gained a theater in Fairfax, Virginia, in Hollywood, CA, and Montclair, NJ – www.ParadiseNowTheMovie.com
Fandango lists theaters where it’s playing. There’re aren’t many.
