Newsmax, the Fox News of the InterWeb, is promoting its latest poll on whether you enjoy Bush’s domestic spying frenzy, which requires every respondent to identify themseles and where they live. The site also occasionally loads with one of those pop-up ads that want you to click on them so they automatically search your site for spyware while installing spyware.

A person taking the survey finds that the site does not show you what the results thus far are, but does spit you into a page full of creepy GOP products such as these…

UPDATE: If you do fill out that stupid poll, NewsMax.com — without asking — will automatically start filling your email box with scads and scads of “eNews Alerts.” By and by, one of them says that according to their very scienteific survey, Americans just love being spied on by their own government. It found that 80 percent of NewsMax readers think the president was justified. It also found that 72 percent of respondents have such a little understanding of the law that they don’t think the federal government needs to get a warrent first. According to Newsmax, 80 percent of people just say the media is being undair and that the president is just trying to save Americans. Another email features an article on how I can profit from fluctuating oil prices and Middle East instablitiy, another comes with a pitch for Dr. Laura’s new book and another encourages me to buy a hat like Our Troops are wearing in Iraq (”The Desert Hat that helped us win”). One last one urges me to enter a NewsMax contest to win a “FREEE Emergency Radio.”
